THE LEGENDS WAY

"Like great musicians who study the masters before developing their own styles, we teach our players to analyze their favorite stars in order to try to emulate them.

Using this approach many of our graduates have become Legends in their own right".

- Curt Hernandez, Director

     BUILDING BLOCKS:

TECHNICAL

TACTICAL

Finishing, ball mastery, heading. passing,  goalkeeping and defending sessions

I have known some extremely skillful street players, who couldn' make the transition to the big field because they could not grasp individual functional and team tactics. Every Legends  trainee will have 1 on 1 attention in these areas.

PHYSICAL

PSYCHOLOGICAL

Quickness, agility, flexibility and strength , help to maximize the technical and tactical potential of each player

Humility with confidence, sportsmanship with tenacity and understanding to deal with life in general,  will be vital considerations of all sessions.

Training with Coach Curt provided the technical foundation along with the understanding of the game needed to play competitively at the highest level.  Curt's knowledge and passion for the game as well as a strong character allowed me to grow not only as a player but as a person as well.  Coach Curt provided the foundation needed to achieve my goals and dreams.

Coach Curt Hernandez is an excellent coach for any player. He helped grow my tactical understanding of the game to a different level. With his training,

I began to see pockets of space in the attacking half of the field that I never utilized in my game beforehand. He connects with  his players very well and they are willing to play for him with all of their hearts.

I had the great fortune of having Curt as my coach for almost 5 years. The care, time, patience, love for the game, and overall commitment that he brings to his players is unmatched.

Throughout the time I have known and spent with him - in team practices, one-on-one training sessions, or personal life talks - he has consistently challenged me not only to become a better player, but a better person.

JUDAH HERNANDEZ

Retired Professional

Yes. He happens to be my father. But I can still say and proudly so, that Curt is still one of, if not the best coach I've ever had. That is saying a lot since I've had the honor of playing internationally and in professional leagues around the world. I owe so much of my character, career and future to the lessons he taught me on and off the field.

coaching HIGHLIGHTS

Mentorship

2004-2006

Dutch and Ajax great Barry Hulshoff, R..I.P, was a part of the Dutch international and Ajax teams along with legends Johan Cruyff,  Wim Suurbier and Ruud Kroll that brought "Total Football" to the world.

Barry was a real gentleman and patient mentor.  I thoroughly enjoyed our weekly coffee chats and summer training camps

 as we traveled together.

Special Thanks to Mark Dillon, Dave Bardsley and Bobby Croft.

GREAT CLUB TEAMS

1996-2010

Coaching 2017 Rush boys team to #1 club ranking in Florida.

Taking the 2015 Rush Boys to CASL showcase. Defeating the #1 team in North Carolina, Triangle Fc and  finishing top of a very difficult group in front of large numbers of college coaches.

RESPECT FOR REFEREES

I have not always been great in my reactions to referees, but by God's grace, I have grown in understanding and in self-control.

(See comments from Mike Amato Rush Assignor in the About Me page.)  He was being generous.

I try these days, to be an encouragement to officials as much as possible.

   WORKING FOR  FLORIDA RUSH

2010-PRESENT

A huge level of loyalty displayed during this pandemic in that the club continued to pay it's staff coaches for three months without any revenue flow.

Undertaking the 3-D Coaching Course as a group and sharing with some great staff coaches and technical directors.

Amazing discoveries and reminders of why we do what we do.

Under

Studying the Greats. Creating Legends.

1997-Present

Since 1997 I have been blessed to be able to coach some great players to club, Olympic Development, International,  Division I, II, II College and professional success..

With our guidance, many of them achieved their goals. but also turned out to be awesome human beings.

I thank God for having had these opportunities to participate in their development.
